Paternity

Paternity issues bring mixed and varied emotions. It is important that paternity be established because it bears on child custody and support obligations. We approach issues of paternity with empathy and compassion and guide individuals through the process of establishing legal rights to their children.

A child born into a marriage is presumed to be the biological child of the husband. A child born out of wedlock must have the paternity established either through a recognition of parentage, the father acknowledging the birth, or through a paternity suit.
